White Chocolate Turmeric Chyavanprash Cups

‘Chyavan’ was the name of an ancient sage who restored his youth by eating this jam followed by a meditation for over a month, and ‘prash’ means ‘to consume artfully’.

Chyavanprash is one of the top 5 ancient formulas in Ayurveda, and it was found already in one of the oldest Ayurvedic texts, the Charaka Samhita. This jam’s main ingredient is amla fruit, also known as Indian gooseberry or Amalaki. Amalaki has a sour, tart taste, and is a great source of vitamin C. It also contains many herbs, anti-oxidant rich spices, jaggery, honey and ghee. Because of that, it is not vegan but honey and ghee serve an important purpose. They are amplifying the herbs potency, and transporting them into the deepest tissues – in Ayurveda also known as Yogahavi.

This tonic is great for your digestion, metabolism, immune system, skin, cognitive function, reproductive health, heart, and respiratory system.

We use turmeric in this recipe because it has many healing properties, find out more about golden milk, and turmeric here.

Chyavanprash is an Ayurvedic rasayana, a rejuvenating herbal jam, which nourishes all seven tissue layers (dhatus), promotes vitality (ojas), and longevity. Overall, it is a strengthener and immunity builder for all constitutions and doshas. Because of its mildly cleansing and detoxifying, yet warming properties, Chyavanprash is especially good during colder months. This jam is a great way to keep you and your children healthy, specifically your immune system, and lungs.

It has a very unique flavor, which children love, and is composed of all six tastes: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent.

You can daily eat 1 tsp of Chyavanprash straight out of the jar, put it into energy balls, as a spread on toast, in a warm herbal latte, or in these nut butter cups

Please make sure you use a Chyavanprash that is organic and has a high quality. Mine is from a company called Ayurveda 101 which is located in Southern Styria (Austria), and is working entirely climate-neutral since 2018.

INSTRUCTIONS

Melt the cacao butter on low heat, add vanilla, rock salt and turmeric. If you don’t like the taste of turmeric, you can omit it.

Mix the almond butter with the maple syrup, then add the cacao butter mixture.

Pour 1 tbsp of the mixture into muffin paper molds and place in the freezer for about 5 minutes.

Put 1 tsp of Chyavanprash by Ayurveda101 into the middle of each cup and flatten it. Then you can pour 2 tbs of the chocolate mixture on top.

Let them set for 15 minutes in the freezer.

Place and store them up to a week in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

It’s even more delicious when you let them set at room temperature for a while before eating, or when you enjoy them with a lovely cup of tea, and share them with friends and family.

With Love,

Lisa
